COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2008 Pictures of AMD's upcoming ATI Radeon HD 4870 were leaked a couple weeks ago ahead of its launch next month and now we get a rather close-up look at its little brother, the GDDR3 based ATI Radeon HD 4850.

Richard Swinburne from bit-tech managed to take a bunch of happy snaps before Computex begins in a couple of days. Apparently the sample is a dummy sample that AMD sends out to its partners show they can prepare brand stickers and other marketing material such as box designs ahead of its launch.

According to bit-tech, "... it's not all that huge and to keep it under the ~130W envelope the heatsink can stand, we still expect the same TSMC 55nm process. According to the rumours we've been hearing, both the Radeon HD 4850 and the higher-end Radeon HD 4870 will feature 480 stream processors in a similar arrangement to the R600 generation (i.e. 96 five-way shader processors)."

Head on over here to read the rest of the story.
