The complete absence of HD-DVD logos should have rung alarm bells, but after a run through of PowerDVD 8's abilities, I can confirm that Cyberlink have removed HD-DVD playback from the program.

Whilst it's no news that the HD-DVD format is dead and buried, it's still a somewhat strange omission and a final slap in the face to those who bought into the technology.

We will be sure to quiz Cyberlink on the reasons for it's removal as soon as we can.
