Here's how many states have the more infectious strain of COVID-19
Dr. Anthony Fauci has speculated that the US has it's own unique strain of coronavirus, much like the one seen in the UK.
Not too long ago, the United Kingdom identified a new strain of coronavirus that is more infectious than the main strain that is circulating the country.
Now, reports have come out about the new strain of COVID-19 being in the United States. So far, Indiana, Texas, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut joined California, Florida, New York, Georgia, and Colorado in detecting the strain of the virus. However, the CDC has recently stated there is no evidence to suggest that the new strain has entered the country, more on that here.
The nation's leading infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci, who is the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said Monday, "It could be-a possibility-that we have our own mutant that's being more easily transmissible. We don't know. We're looking for it ... If you look at the slope of our curve, which is very steep, it looks a bit like the curve in the U.K." Included in this article is the full list of states that have reported the new strain.
States:
- Indiana
- Texas
- Pennsylvania,
- Connecticut
- California
- Florida
- New York
