Dr. Fauci says when the US will reach coronavirus herd immunity
The nation's leading infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci has said when the United States can expect to reach herd immunity.
The United States is on the brink of the worst part of the coronavirus pandemic yet, but when will we feel the effects of the now available vaccines?
Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation's leading infectious disease expert, recently appeared on CNN's "State of the Union" and backed up President-elect Joe Biden's comments about the US heading for a massive surge in cases. "As we have gone from the late fall to the early winter, the numbers really are quite troubling. With the hospitalizations over 120,000, we really are a critical stage. Even though we advise not to, it's going to happen."
The infectious disease expert continued and explained that he predicts that if the distribution of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccine goes as planned, the United States will reach significant herd immunity by the end of next summer. "I think that's probably going to be by the middle to the end of next summer so that I hope...by the fall we reach that critical percentage of people", Fauci said.
