If you're serious about your sound as a PC consumer/gamer and run optical or coaxial to an amp with 5.1 or more channels, its most probable that you arnt experiencing the brilliance that is dolby digital / DTS encoding on the fly.

The trend kicked off with the awesome NVIDIA Soundstorm MCP found on select nForce2 motherboards, capable of dolby digital encoding on the fly. Then came the HDA Mystique, a standalone card capable of doing the same thing (though I hear not quite as well).

Unfortunately NVIDIA ceased partnership with the makers of the soundstorm audio solution for motherboards, such a shame. Add insult to injury, very little in the way of alternative sound solutions capable of digital encoding on the fly have hit the market since.

However thanks to Club3D, they've released a new soundcard which sports "DTS Connect" technology, allowing the card to perform real-time encoding for multichannel DTS 7.1 sound output. It will also handle Dolby Digital encoding as well.

Dubbed the Theatron Agrippa DTS 7.1, this solution actually runs a C-Media CMI8770 processor and boasts select high-end components for excellent clarity; it would be a fantastic addition to a HTPC setup or someone who games a lot and outputs their sound to an amplifier capable of decoding DTS or DOlby Digital streams.

For further information about the card, you can read up on the press release here folks.

Club 3D vendor for graphic cards and multimedia products expands their successful range of soundcard products. The new soundcard Theatron Agrippa DTS 7.1 is now available at your local dealer for 69,- Euro MSRP.

Club 3D Theatron Agrippa DTS 7.1 is designed for the audiophile PC consumer. The soundcard is build with selected high-end components for excellent sound. The digital integration of a multimedia PC or HTPC with a home cinema system, as already known from other Club 3D soundcards, is one of the main reasons for offering this product. Enjoy your games and all other content with real-time encoding in multichannel sound Dolby Digital 7.1 and DTS.
