The United States is simply enduring the coronavirus pandemic at this point, and now top medical advisors are saying that the country is entering a "different" phase.
In a recent interview with CNN, one of President Trump's top medical advisors warned US citizens that the coronavirus outbreak is now entering a "different" phase. Deborah Birx, a physician and diplomat serving as the United States Global AIDS Coordinator, said that the virus is now "extraordinarily widespread", and that rural areas are not safe from the viruses grasp.
Birx stated, "To everybody who lives in a rural area, you are not immune or protected from this virus. This epidemic right now is different, and it's more widespread, and it's both rural and urban." Birx went on to explain that while she has been recently traveling the country (14 states in two weeks), she has seen many people taking vacations in coronavirus hotspots. Birx warns, "As I travelled around the country, I saw all of America moving. If you have chosen to go on vacation into a hot spot, you really need to come back and protect those with co-morbidities and assume you're infected."
