Earlier this week NieR: Automata was released on PS4, and the hype train is in full steam. Reviews thus far are extremely positive with a full 90/100 Metacritic score - making it one of the best of the year. Expectations are now high for the port to the PC, to be released next week Friday the 17th. If you're looking to pick up the game, there is a discount for NieR on PC.
The retailer in question is the GMG, who is the only authorized seller hawking the game with a deal. There you'll find an 18% price break to $49.29, or about $11 off the sixty dollar MSRP. GMG is also selling the Day One Edition, so you'll get the Cardboard Pod Skin, Retro Grey Pod Skin, Retro Red Pod Skin, Grimoire Weiss Pod, and Machine Mask Accessory pre-order bonuses.
Update 3/20/17: GMG has increased the savings on NieR: Automata to 20%. Discount updated below.
- NieR: Automata Day One Edition (Steam) - $47.99 (list $60)
- Login or create an account to see the full discount.
This discount on NieR: Automata is part of GMG's "VIP" program. You'll need to create an account or just log in to an existing one to get the full savings - not a real hassle vs. any other retailer, given you'll usually need to make an account to purchase regardless.
The description of NieR: Automata claims the open world action title will run at a smooth 60 FPS with no area loading. We're skeptical you'll get that with the minimum requirements of a Core i3-2100 CPU and GeForce GTX 770 GPU, if you hit the recommended specs, performance should be decent.
After installation NieR: Automata is expected to take up about 50GB of hard drive space. The download size is not yet known as pre-load has not gone live yet on Steam. GMG is an authorized Square Enix distributor, so you should be sure to get your Steam key delivered well before the game goes live.
