It's not a cheap system, but this Black Friday, the HTC Vive virtual realty system is getting an unexpected price drop at the Microsoft Store along with a giant $100 bonus. The $100 price drop was anticipated given HTC declare the deal last week - but the $100 bonus Gift Code that comes along with the discount? That was definitely not in the plans.
The $100 gift code is good for any future purchases at the Microsoft Store - including of course PC games and software. You'll receive the gift code in your email inbox about 10-20 days after your shiny new VR system has been shipped.
- HTC Vive VR System + $100 Gift Code - $699 (list $799)
- Includes 2 Games: Call of the Starseed & Zombie Training Simulator
At the Microsoft Store, they are also carrying the Oculus Rift VR headset during this holiday season - and it too has a Black Friday "deal" of sort. At participating retailers, when you buy a Rift, you'll receive a $100 Oculus store credit as an added bonus. When you compare the Rift deal to the Vive, its clear which system is getting the more aggressive sales promotion. To be fair, of course, the HTC Vive also comes with a higher list price (given the scope of its system).
Microsoft has slated the promotion through the Black Friday weekend - but we personally think they'll sell out of stock well before Monday in lieu of the additional $100 gift code bonus. If the deal expires, you can also find a similar $100 discount on the Vive at GameStop, Amazon, and of course the official Vive store.
