GoPro has unleashed pre-orders of its Omni camera, the company's first foray into consumer VR cameras, at a cost of $5000.

The GoPro Omni does rock 6 x GoPro Hero4 Black Edition cameras, synched together to create what I'm sure is going to be a new wave of VR content. Omni is headed directly into the wave that is competition, especially against Google, as it has been using YouTube to deliver VR content to the masses over the last year or two.

GoPro Omni is capable of shooting 7K in the 4:3 aspect ratio, which will see the Omni shooting 7940x3970 at 30FPS or 25FPS. You can shoot at 5338x2819 at 60FPS, as well as 50FPS, too.
