Netflix begins cracking down on VPN users in Australia

Using a VPN to access US content from Australia? Yeah, Netflix doesn't like that.

Netflix has gotten tough with VPN users in Australia trying to get around the geo-restrictions it puts up, with Netflix blocking Australian viewers from streaming their US-only videos.

We reported a few days ago that uFlix, a paid service that lets Australians change their IP address and DNS settings, and is now getting caught in the flak. Netflix has told some of its Australian customers: "You seem to be using an unblocker or proxy. Please turn off any of these services and try again". With over 75 million users, Netflix can pretty much do whatever it wants.

Right now, only certain users are being excluded, with uFlix saying: "We are working on a solution to get around these new measures and apologize for the inconvenience to those who are currently only getting Australian Netflix".
