Samsung's 2016 Smart TV lineup will be IoT, SmartThings ready
All of Samsung's Smart TVs next year will let you control the lights, locks, and other parts your home.
All of Samsung's Smart TVs releasing in 2016 will be Internet of Things (IoT) ready and attached to the SmartThings platform, for anyone on the lookout.
Basically, this means any TV you buy from Samsung next year will allow you to use it in as a remote for all kinds of things in your home, including home theater relevant things like lighting and surround sound, but also locks, thermostats, cameras, and heaps more. A smartphone can act as a remote, too.
While all Smart TVs will launch with the technology, it won't necessarily be activated: Samsung will be slowly rolling out SmartThings activations on a regional basis.
