Drone crash nearly wipes out champion skier mid-competition

Near disaster at Alpine skiing World Cup

World Cup champion skier Marcel Hirscher narrowly avoided serious injury during an Alpine slalom race in Italy this week, when a heavy duty drone literally fell from the sky during competition.

The drone which was being used for broadcasting the race for TV fell just inches away from Hirscher, who didn't react and continued tacing, perhaps not even aware until its completion. But afterwards, he was unsurprisingly displeased, telling Associated Press: "This is horrible. This can never happen again. This can be a serious injury." Despite the accident, Hirscher finished second and took to Instagram to make light of the situation.
