According to The Hollywood Reporter, Star Wars: The Force Awakens has already pulled in over $100 million - a figure that would see $60 million from the opening day, and opening weekend sales alone. Disney have been downplaying the opening numbers for The Force Awakens, which is a strange thing to see considering Star Wars is a gigantic franchise.
Up until The Force Awakens, The Dark Knight Rises was the record holder, making $25 million in advance ticket sales - but with $100 million in ticket sales already - Disney should be quite happy. Previous reports have pegged Star Wars: The Force Awakens to make anywhere between $180 million and $220 million in the opening weekend, a number it'll have to reach to beat Jurassic World's huge haul of $208 million earlier this year. The record holder right now is still James Cameron's Avatar, which debuted to the tune of $232 million.
