Now that the Overwatch cat is out of the bag and we know Blizzard are making their new first-person shooter for both the Xbox One and PS4, we're finding out more details on the development of the game.

Blizzard's plan was to have Overwatch 'playable on console' |

According to Game Director Jeff Kaplan, who talked at BlizzCon, he said about designing Overwatch from the beginning to play on both consoles and PC: "It was kind of a dream of ours". Kaplan said that the console versions of Overwatch weren't an afterthought and that they are not ports. He added: "When we started to make Overwatch ... it was our goal from day one to have this game playable on console".

Kaplan also said: "Designing the game so it felt great on a console controller almost put this forced design elegance on us", meaning that Blizzard wanted Overwatch to play well on consoles, without requiring button mashing. Kaplan also said that Overwatch will include "full integration with Xbox Live and PlayStation Network". There will be no cross-platform play, with Kaplan finishing off with saying "they're their own ecosystems".
