Chrome OS isn't going anywhere

Google clarifies Chrome OS is here to stay, plenty of plans for it

Last week we reported Android was going to consume Chrome OS once the two operating systems merged. Google has clarified this is not true, and that Chrome OS isn't actually going anywhere.

"While we've been working on ways to bring together the best of both operating systems," they write in a blog post, "there's no plan to phase out Chrome OS."

The company notes the Chrome-OS powered ASUS Chromebit and new Chromebooks are releasing soon, and new features are coming to the operating system, including a new media player and a Material-based visual design. As well, it reminds that updates will continue for five years, as promised.
