Security researcher creates USB stick that can fry any USB device

'USB Killer 2.0' can fry any computer with ease, doesn't affect hard drives though (probably)

Should you ever want to fry your own hardware or someone else's for some reason, Russian researcher "Dark Purple" has just the thing for you: a USB stick that does just that when inserted into any USB device.

Dubbed "USB Killer 2.0", the stick simply sends 220 volts of electricity through the stick, frying the device it's plugged into. No muss, no fuss.

Below you can see him bricking his Lenovo Thinkpad X60 (a motherboard replacement is on its way). Purple says it's "extremely unlikely" the hard drive is affected, so if you're a spy that may need to wipe his disk at any moment, this probably won't help you.
