NVIDIA will ask for review on Samsung case initial determination
Last week we reported a judge had made an initial determination regarding the ongoing Samsung-NVIDIA legal battle, in favor of Samsung. The judge stated Samsung had not infringed on any NVIDIA patents, as NVIDIA believed, and that one of the patents was not valid. To this, they responded they "remain confident" in their case.
NVIDIA has now taken it a step further, publicly stating they will ask the full six-person International Trade Commission to "review this initial determination and to confirm the previous judgment of the U.S. Patent Office - that the third patent is valid". Should the ITC side with NVIDIA and agree to its terms, Samsung would then be prevented from importing the applicable devices into the US.
The company reiterated its confidence, saying, "We are continuing this case by proceeding to the next step in the process because we believe our patents are valid and have been infringed."
