It might have been announced for a 2017 release, but it seems that Legendary Studios and Warner Bros. are thinking twice about a sequel to the 2013 monster film 'Pacific Rim' and instead investing the funds in a King Kong/ Godzilla mash-up.

According to The Hollywood Reporter sources, while the film made over $400 million worldwide, it's $190 million budget has give the studio pause for thought and the plans have been "halted indefinitely and will be pushed back (if it gets made at all)". 'Pacific Rim 2' was due to hit cinemas in 2017, but as of now, neither Legendary nor Warner Bros. have officially commented on the situation.
