NVIDIA has issued a voluntary recall for its SHIELD 8" gaming tablets, sold between July 2014 and July 2015, due to a possible fire hazard. Owners of the device, which numbers close to 90,000, are urged to stop using the device - except to back up data and participate in the recall.
Four cases have been recorded so far, including two where the lithium-ion battery left physical damage to floors.
NVIDIA is replacing all units returned, due to the tablet battery overheating. Shield owners are asked to visit the following URL: https://tabletrecall.expertproductinquiry.com/ to learn how to ship back your unit, and receive a new one.
If you're a Shield owner, follow the URL or call NVIDIA directly: (888)-943-4196.
