A recent trip to Japan confirmed that Sanrio's classic character 'Hello Kitty' is as big as ever, but now she's about to get even bigger, with the company raising millions in capital to move forward with a big budget feature film. According to Deadline Hollywood, executives expect the budget to be "anywhere from $160 million-$240 million", with the film to be produced by the it's newly established American subsidiary.
Sanrio are expected to launch the 'Hello Kitty' film in 2019, and will initially finance the film internally, before shipping it around to Hollywood distributors to place their bids. 'Hello Kitty' celebrated her 40th birthday earlier this year.
