Don't expect Nintendo to suddenly jump on the VR bandwagon

Is VR right for Nintendo?

Until virtual reality matures and establishes, don't expect too many breakthroughs beyond gaming. Microsoft and Sony both seem interested in helping VR succeed, but Nintendo doesn't share their enthusiasm.

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime said VR is "just tech," and it must be made fun and social - which is something that it's not. During E3, Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto said VR isn't a good fit for Nintendo right now - but didn't fully shut out the idea that VR could one day be in the plans.

Nintendo, which chose not to engage Microsoft and Sony in the new generation console war, also isn't a huge fan of VR. Instead of trying to compete directly in VR, expect Nintendo to show a larger interest in helping global eSports develop.

Depending on how VR develops, it would seem foolish if VR wasn't somewhere in the studio's plans, but it doesn't look like the Japanese studio is planning to rush itself.
