Politics can bring out the worst in people, and it looks like Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz blows off some steam with a bit of gaming fun. The current senator from Texas reportedly kept his roommate awake at night by playing Super Mario Bros. and numerous "Japanese fighting games," while studying at Princeton and Harvard Law School.
The self-admitted mobile gaming fan, currently enthralled with Plants vs. Zombies and Candy Crush Saga, also applauds consoles - even if he can't play them in fear of getting addicted.
"I don't have a console, mostly as a time management tool, because if I had one, I would use it far too much," Cruz said in a statement to The Daily Beast. "I was a kid growing up in the '70s and '80s. I had a Nintendo, an Atari. I still remember the Christmas we got our first Pong game."
Who knew politicians would speak about gaming as part of their campaigns? Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton reportedly played the GameBoy back in the day, with the William J. Clinton Library posting a recent picture of her.
