The upcoming SOMA horror video game by Frictional Games will launch for the PC and Sony PlayStation 4 game console on September 22, the studio has confirmed. To celebrate the public announcement, Frictional Games has released 12 minutes of game play:
In development since 2010, the studio had to figure out how to properly address in-game themes. "We didn't want SOMA to be just another 'run from the monster'-affair," according to a PlayStation Blog post. "While it does have that sort of thing too, as our gameplay video shows, the horror runs way deeper."
SOMA has been designed so gamers can question consciousness, identity and "our very existence." It has been a difficult challenge for the studio to put the right elements together, but hope gamers enjoy their experience.
