Last year, DC Comics and Warner Bros unveiled an ambitious slate of feature films based on the companies most famous characters, but DC are also pushing forward to push some of the lesser known properties into the limelight, including a project based on 'Supergirl'. Now, CBS and DC have released the first look at the series, in a lengthy trailer.

Played by 'Glee' actress Melissa Benoist in the latest incarnation of the character created by Otto Binder and Al Plastino in 1959, 'Supergirl' was designed as a female counterpart to 'Superman'. Despite undergoing numerous revisions over the years, her most famous is her depiction as Superman's cousin - sharing many of the same powers, but the same affliction to the radioactive pieces of their former homeworld, Kryptonite.
