Unikrn, a Seattle-based startup with a focus on creating a unique eSports ecosystem, will allow gamers to bet on organized, sanctioned eSports competitions - and will feature live viewing, discussions and competitive odds directly on its website.
Sood, the co-founder and CEO of Unikrn is best known as founder of VoodooPC and the former GM of Microsoft Ventures, and he teased additional details about Unikrn for weeks to go. The Unikrn Arena is designed to provide a safe betting atmosphere, while Unikrn and Tabcorp helped work out legal issues, betting and gaming matters, and liquidity to improve stability.
Unikrn's platform has been in development since last November, and the company has raised $3 million with over $5 million committed, according to Sood.
"eSports is one of the largest sports globally, attracting viewer numbers that are on par with traditional sports such as American football and basketball," said Sood. "We couldn't have found a better partner than Tabcorp to drive innovation and bring wagering to the fast-growing eSPorts market."
