There's some classic Hollywood films that are just so beloved and so iconic, that they should under no circumstances be remade. Titles like 'Back to the Future', 'Alien', Robocop', 'Lawrence of Arabia'... and 'Gremlins'. Still, that isn't stopping Warner Bros from attempting to reboot the 1984 Joe Dante puppet rampage - because money.
According to Deadline Hollywood, the studio has tasked screenwriter Carl Ellsworth with taking a stab at the script, which the studio had previously tasked to writer Seth Grahame-Smith, which apparently didn't pass muster.
The original 'Gremlins' was a subversive smash hit for the studio, grossing $153 million worldwide on an meager $11 million budget and led to the even crazier, fourth wall smashing 'Gremlins 2: The Next Batch' six years later.
