Tesla Model S cars are now working as an expensive wireless hotspot

Tesla and Telstra tee up in tongue-tieing unison to help bring free internet to Aussies

If you've got $100,000 laying around and are looking for an alternative mobile hotspot to the regular offerings, Australian Telecom Telstra are offering free in-car internet connectivity.

The Tesla Model S uses a constant connection to the internet for many essential functions mainly based around it's expansive infotainment system. This provides the user with live navigation maps, access to music streaming service Rdio (among others) and interior Wi-Fi (hotspot) capabilities.

Telstra are jumping on board, offering every Model S user free access to their "Telstra Next G" network in their new ride, meaning you can now get access to the best reception offering Australia-wide. This service connects to the Tesla App, allowing for users to remotely control air conditioning and door locking functions.

This feature also means that Tesla technicians can access the cars diagnostics remotely, helping stranded users diagnose problems that may arise with their ride.

If you've got some cash to spare and are looking for a hotspot that will take you to work, look no further.
