Whilst it might have grossed almost $1.1 billion at the international box office, this year's release of 'Transformers: Age of Extinction' didn't exactly set a light in the hearts of critics, including here on TweakTown. Despite that set back, Paramount are courting the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences with a full on Oscar nomination campaign for the film, among other titles from this year's release slate.
Paramount are asking for the Academy to nominate 'Age of Extinction' in over a dozen categories on their "For Your Consideration" website, including 'Best Picture', 'Best Director' and 'Best Adapted Screenplay'. Whilst they are already unsurprisingly in the running in the visual effects category, it's safe to say that the film won't be in contention for Best Picture, let alone win it.
