Activision's Call of Duty received the top vote as best game franchise, voted on by 5,000 gamers polled for the Guinness World Records 2015 Gamer's Edition, winning ahead of Super Mario Bros., Minecraft, Grand Theft Auto, Halo, and The Legends of Zelda.

Here is what Craig Glenday, Guinness World Records editor-in-chief said: "More than 5,000 fans of the book from 140 countries across the world took to an online poll vote for their favorite games, and the top 50 record-breaking games were featured in the book."

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare recently launched - and despite some analysts showing concern over game sales - Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg believes it will outsell Call of Duty: Ghosts.
