Microsoft has reportedly sold more than 100,000 Xbox One units during the game console's first week of availability in China. Media reports reveal Microsoft hopes to sell over 1 million Xbox One units within one year in China, helping build a following for the console which has struggled to keep up with the Sony PlayStation 4 worldwide.

To put it in perspective, the Xbox One launched in Japan and only managed to rack up 23,000 unit sales in the first week - as Microsoft again struggled to break the stranglehold Sony has on its home market - and sales elsewhere have lagged behind Sony.

The Xbox One launch was the first game console launch in China in 14 years, and it was difficult to gauge how interested consumers would be.
