The final episode of the sci-fi series might have aired 16 years ago, but creator J. Michael Straczysnski hasn't given up hope of rebooting the series in a big budget feature film, airing his plans at the recent San Diego ComicCon.

According to a post on TVWise, Straczysnski announced to assembled fans that he has begun work on the film's script and could begin production in 2016. Warner Bros, who produced the original series would have first right of refusal on the project, but if they decline, Straczysnski is free to shop the project around to other parties.

It's not the first time that Straczysnski has attempted to get a 'Babylon 5' feature off the ground, but with renewed interest in cult sci-fi, thanks to the 'Star Trek' reboot and the forthcoming 'Star Wars Episode VII', the time could be right to bring the series back to life once more.
