LeBron James fan? NBA 2K14 gamer? You are one of the lucky few who can purchase Nike's new LeBron James-branded sneakers - a real-life pair of shoes that have only been made because a bunch of very dedicated NBA 2K14 players put a lot of manhours into the game.
Nike has said that its new shoes are the first physical basketball shoe to be unlocked in a video game. Nike worked with 2K Sports and developer Visual Concepts for this very unique wearable promotion. In order to buy the new LeBron James-branded shoes, you have to complete a specific set of in-game tasks of NBA 2K14 on the PS4 or Xbox One.
These tasks include playing a minimum of 60 games in the MyCareer mode, earning an elite ranking, creating a show inside of NBA 2K14's Nike Innovation Kitchen, and shooting the Nike sponsorship path. Nike has said that in order to complete these tasks, it will take around 80 hours of playtime. Gamers who have completed these tasks have the chance to pre-order the shoes, at a price of $220.
