Apple has certainly been shilling the iPad 2 for a long time. The device was the only tablet holdout at Apple that didn't offer a Retina screen version. The iPad 2 has now been discontinued. With the tablet gone, a new and better tablet has been re-introduced to replace it.

The tablet taking the place of the iPad 2 is the fourth generation iPad. I will call the tablet the iPad 4 from now on. The iPad 4 has been re-introduced and has 16GB of storage inside. The last time this tablet was available there were several capacities to choose from.

This time out the only capacity you can get is 16GB. Other than offering a single capacity, the tablet has the same hardware. That includes an A6X processor, 5MP iSight camera, and a 1.2MP FaceTime camera. The iPad 4 will sell for $399 for a Wi-Fi version.

That is the same price that the iPad 2 sold for making this good news for anyone looking for a new tablet. At least this is good news unless you just bought the iPad. A version for the tablet with integrated mobile broadband is offered for $529. Both are available now.
