- Monarch Hornet SFF Mini System

The crew over at take Monarch's Hornet Mini PC and provide us with a clear rundown on it's design and features. It's not the smallest SFF system around, however this gives it certain advantages too. Well worth a look.

Online business has become the dominant face of the PC industry with many savings and manufacture offerings not available in the retail market place being available only online. Monarch offers many different products including older items at discounted prices to the web shopper and although I personally have not purchased anything from them, their longevity in the business shows they must be doing something right as this is an unkind and unforgiving industry. The Hornet has received many awards from various sites around the net and has gotten good scores in some print media to boot. Follow along as we take a look at what this system has to offer and see if performance is sacrificed in a trade off for size.

- AMD to ship 1GHz FSB Athlon 64 FX Q1 '04 - SiS

Word has it that SiS have begun shipping their latest Athlon64 FX chipset, the SiS755FX which is designed to support the 939-pin processors coming out within the first quarter of 04. The 2 main highlights of the chipset are PCI Express, and a whopping 1GHz FSB (up from current 800MHz varieties). This will effectively produce 8GBps of data throughput as opposed to the current 6.4GBps on offer currently with the FX-51's HT bus. More over at The Register.
