- Graphics Chip Lineups of ATI and nVidia
We have just recieved exclusive information based around the upcoming lineup of current generation gfx cards yet to hit the scene, of which it seems are just around the corner. This includes information relating to both the GeForceFX 5900 and 5600 XT's, based on the NV35 and NV31 chipsets respectively. The 5900's reported to be clocked at 390/350 MHz, whilst the 5600 at 235/200 MHz. The prices for these are said to be a little lower than the current equivalents. There has also been some information released on the clock rates of the next lot of upcoming Radeon cards as well as the GeforceFX 5700 non ultra based card. Adrian over at Rojak's Pot has produced a guide explaining the benefits of "hot flashing" your bios in crisis situations. Normally one wouldn't even consider attempting such a stunt, but when strictly following this guide? there is almost no chance of going wrong and it'll save a practically dead motherboard from being tossed away. The act of writing BIOS software to the BIOS chip is known as 'flashing the BIOS' and the software tool used is known as a BIOS flash utility. But what is hot flashing?
Hot flashing is basically the same as a plain jane BIOS flash - you use a BIOS flash utility to flash a BIOS image into the Flash ROM. However, there is a twist to it. Hot flashing requires you to swap BIOS chips while the system is running! That's what the word 'hot' in hot flashing means - you swap the BIOS chip when your system is 'hot'.
