IFA 2013 - We have taken a look at Toshiba's Encore tablet at IFA 2013, which is an interesting device. The Encore is powered by Intel's Atom processor, as well as Windows 8.1.

This means it can run all Windows software thanks to its x86-based processor, and is quite portable with an 8-inch display. The 8-inch display has a resolution of just 1280x800, which will do for most people. Backed up in those specs we find 2GB of RAM, and two storage options: 32GB or 64GB, which are both expandable by microSD cards.

On the back of the Toshiba Encore we find an 8-megapixel rear shooter, which is sans an LED flash unfortunately. Connectivity wise we have microUSB and microHDMI, but the best part of this is the touch button on the side of the display which will take you directly to the desktop, or the usual Windows UI, depending on where you are at the time.

Pricing doesn't look too bad for an Atom-based 8-inch slate running Windows 8.1 which isn't released just yet, at around 299 euros for the 32GB version and 349 euros or so for the 64GB model.
