Samsung cuts component orders for 10.1-inch tablets, cites sales are 'far below expectations'

It looks like Samsung isn't having a good time with larger tablets, with the South Korean giant reporting cutting down component orders for its 10.1-inch tablets because so far, sales have been "far below expectations."

The news comes from unnamed sources within Samsung's supply chain who spoke with DigiTimes recently, with the report stating that the South Korean giant is seeing slow full-size tablet sales, which is due to the strong competition in the smaller tablet space, such as the Nexus 7. Samsung told an estimated 17 million tablets during the first half of this year.

According to DigiTimes' sources, 70% of these tablets were 7-inch devices. The report also notes that Samsung's recently price cuts on its 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab 2, Galaxy Tab 3 and Galaxy Note 10.1 haven't helped shift more units, which has resulted in a cut to component sales.
