- Cheap mans GeForce FX 5900


X-Bit Labs are reporting that Gainward and Leadtek are set to release graphics cards based on the GeForce FX 5900 SE which offers performance a little slower than regular 5900 and 5900 Ultra cards without the expensive price tag.


Gainward and Leadtek recently unveiled their new graphics cards based on simplified and slower version of the GeForce FX 5900 technology aimed on price-conscious personal computer hardware enthusiasts. The graphics cards feature 2.8ns memory, cheaper compared to 2.2ns devices found on more expensive GeForce FX 5900 and 5900 Ultra graphics cards, but still utilize 400MHz GeForce FX GPUs, as far as we are aware.


- Opteron 246 shows up in Japan


AMD's fastest Opteron processor, the 246 at 2GHz, has been seen in Japan on shop shelves for staggering price of almost one grand. Start saving folks.


AMD Opteron 246 processor, functioning at 2.0GHz and announced a couple of weeks ago, appeared for sale in Japan. The pricing of the new AMD64 processor, however, is definitely very regrettable: it costs a little bit less than $1000, local sources, such as Akiba PC Hotline, report.


- Intel setting up shop in Taiwan


Craig Barrett, CEO of Intel, has decided to setup shop in Taiwan with a new R&D center.


TAIPEI - Casting a vote of confidence in Taiwan's drive to move up the electronics food chain, Intel Corp. CEO Craig Barrett said Monday his company will set up a high-level R&D center in Taipei for system innovation. It will be the first of its kind in Asia for Intel.
