Dota 2 is the first game to use the new Steam and Twitch account link feature.

There are countless gamers out there who use both Steam and Twitch.tv accounts, but now they've joined forces and are helping competitive gaming title Dota 2 out in the process.

Up until now, players have to choose between watching Dota 2 tournaments either in-game, or through Twitch, but the Twitch option left them out from receiving promotional items that randomly "drop" during the event. The new linked account feature sees players watching on Twitch, while still being eligible to receive the dropped items, as long as their Steam account has the required virtual tournament ticket associated with it.
