Microsoft haven't moved into the high-res tablet arena just yet, not in the 7-inch category anyway, but it looks like this could all change in the near future.
During their Build developer conference, there were rumors that we could see another Surface get announced, but this didn't happen. But, there was a tease at some new resolutions on new Windows 8-based devices that caught The Verge's eye. At 10.6-inch there was a tease of 2560x1440 which is much higher than the Surface Pro's 10.6-inch display running 1920x1080.
Better yet, Microsoft's developer tools listed a 7-inch display running 1920x1200 and a 7.5-inch panel running 1440x1080 - an interesting resolution. Microsoft are expecting OEM's to ship devices with high resolutions in a 7.5-inch form factor in the near future, and that has me excited.
