To say EA faced launch issues with SimCity would be an understatement. In fact, when the PC version of SimCity launched in March, it was nearly unplayable, resulting in mass anger from purchasers. Many blamed the always-on, always-connected DRM and play-style. Things have calmed down in the months since launch, but the Mac version still hasn't launched.
The Mac version was actually slated to launch back in February, but it was delayed to June 11. Now that we approach the delayed launch date, EA and Maxis have again delayed the launch, this time to August. A specific day has not been provided, but they did note that they want to make sure the experience is great:
Today we are announcing that we are moving the release date of the Mac version of SimCity to August. We have made this tough decision because we do not believe it is ready for primetime yet. We want to ensure the Mac is a great experience for our players and that is why we are taking more time.
