Earlier today, Tactus leaked a supposed image of the plastic rear-shell of an upcoming low-cost iPhone. Of course, as with all Apple rumors, this should be taken with a grain of salt. However, it does appear as though this rear-shell could be the real deal. See for yourself:
It appears to take styling elements from the original iPod. A flat back with curved corners and elongated volume buttons set this device apart from the iPhone 5. Rumor has it that this device will feature an Apple A5 processor, 3.5-inch screen, and 5MP camera, much the same as previous iPhones.
We still don't know whether or not Apple would want to undercut the profit margins of their flagship iPhone, but it might be what they need to expand market share further.
