A whole bunch of new laptops and ultrabooks were due out with Windows 8, and most of them arrived on time. For ASUS' Taichi, however, that hasn't been the case. It was originally slated to launch alongside Windows 8 on October 26, but it still has yet to materialize.
The ultrabook is a slick machine--it features dual 1080p screens on both sides of the lid and fairly good performance specifications. Pre-orders for the machine were taken in October, but now many listings have disappeared or been significantly modified. You won't even be able to find the system on Amazon or Newegg anymore.
ASUS has said that shipments could begin in December, but also said they might be delayed. The reasons behind the delay have been kept secret. Best Buy Canada are showing a January 30, 2013 release, while other websites are showing December 1st. It's really hard to say for sure when it will arrive, but I imagine those who pre-ordered it are quite miffed.
Did you pre-order an ASUS Taichi? Have you been contacted about the delays? We want to hear from you!
