Nintendo announce new $199 3DS XL, sports 4.88-inch top screen, available August 19th
Nintendo's latest member of the 3DS family, 3DS LL (in Japan) and 3DS XL (in the US) gets announced
Nintendo have just announced the latest member in their 3DS family, 3DS LL. Nintendo head Satoru Iwata revealed the 3DS LL on Nintendo Direct, where it sports a 4.88-inch top screen and 4.18-inch bottom screen.

The new hardware adds just over an inch to the current 3DS' display, and includes a 4GB SD card, too. The new 3DS LL features just a single thumbpad on the console's port side. Japanese gamers will be able to scoop up the 3DS LL in white, two-tone red/black or silver/white on July 28th for 18,900 (about $235).
Across the pond in the US, it will be rebranded the 3DS XL and will arrive on August 19th for around $200.
