Our App of the Day today is Foursquare 4.0 for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad with iOS 4.0 or later.

With iOS 5.0 being readily available to the public now, app updates with fantastic improvements have been coming out thick and fast the past day or two.

The latest app to get a big and impressive update is Foursquare with version 4.0 that brings a new feature called "Radar" for users running iOS 5.0. It spices up the whole where are my friend's things even more by automatically telling you if a group of your friends are nearby - without the app running. It also has the ability to detect your location and notify you of a nearby To-Do. Very cool!

I'm yet to try out brand new Apple's Find my Friends app yet, but of late it is sure on for young and old with all these location apps. What about you, Google? Are you going to impress us with a new Latitude update soon, too?

foursquare helps you explore the world around you. Keep up with friends, get insider tips, and unlock discounts and rewards.

While on the go, you can easily tell friends where you are, share pictures, get their comments ("I'm right around the corner, I'll stop by to say hello"), and get insider tips ("order the Lobster Ravioli; it's the best dish by far."). Tons of places offer discounts and freebies to foursquare users, and you earn points and badges for doing the things you love.

The latest version of the app includes the following changes:

What's New in Version 4.0

HUGE update for people running iOS 5 on their iPhones: introducing foursquare Radar!

foursquare Radar is a new feature that lets you know about interesting and cool things nearby, even when your phone is in your pocket. For instance: maybe a group of your friends are hanging out nearby, or you're around the corner from this amazing Mexican restaurant that's been on your To-Do List forever. After you turn foursquare Radar on, your phone will let you know so you won't miss out.

It helps you discover more about the world.

For iOS 4 people, there are some other cool changes, like new sharing features and an updated 'Me' tab (just tap on your name). Other than that, this is the same foursquare you know and love.

Oh, and nobody freak out, but we changed the color of the ball on our icon. Say goodbye to purple balls and hello to big green!
