Sony Computer Entertainment Australia have today revealed that the PlayStation 3 sales have surged over 400% in the week following the price drops across the 160GB and 320GB models in Australia. This information is from the official NPD Group Australia sales data from retailers nationally. Michael Ephraim, Managing Director of Sony Computer Entertainment Australia says:
This new price point really represents fantastic value for money as PlayStation 3 delivers full HD games, Blu-ray capability, plus music, movies, catch-up TV and more on demand. Australians love not only games, but also the quality home entertainment PS3 provides. Sales are booming because PlayStation 3 is the best device to connect to your TV, at incredible value, to provide the ultimate home entertainment experience.
The new RRP of the PlayStation 3 is AU$349.95 and $449.95 for the 160GB and 320GB models respectively. This represents a $150 saving on the former recommended retail pricing. Sales momentum is expected to continue with huge AAA releases such as Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception, Resistance 3 and even PlayStation Move enabled games such as DanceStar from the people behind SingStar.
