The second generation of SandForce technology was recently announced, and Viking Modular Solutions is the first to announce a suite of drives based on the new SF-2500 and SF-2600 SandForce SSD processors. The server-oriented drives will be available in multiple form factors and will use "standard high density NAND Flash memory to reliably operate in SATA and SAS based enterprise applications without compromising performance."

These drives will be based around the SATA III 6Gb/s interface and are capable of delivering 60K IOPS random read and write as well as 500 MB/s sequential read and write. DuraClass technology will also be implemented to deliver best in class endurance, security, efficiency, and performance on a single chip. No pricing or availability date has been released at this time.
