Onkyo makes some of the most popular home theater receivers on the market for enthusiasts. The receivers range from feature packs units selling for over $1000 to cheap units that sell for only a few hundred dollars. Onkyo has debuted a pair of new mid-range offerings called the RC270 and the RC260.
Both of the new receivers have many of the same functions like 7.2 channel surround sound, HDMI 1.4a ports for 3D programming, support for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio codecs. The receivers also have Audyssey DSX, Dolby Pro Logic IIz, and a Faroudja DCDI cinema Video processor. That video processor is able to upscale any source resolution to 1080p.
The RC270 goes a few steps further with THX-Select 2Plus certification and Audyssey MultiEQ for room equalization. The receiver can also connect to a network and supports internet music services like Pandora, rhapsody and more. The device is also compatible with DLNA 1.5 and Windows 7. Both of the receivers are available right now with the RC260 selling for $499 and the RC270 for $849.
