ASUS' EeeBox EB1007 should be super cheap - No Ion

Good option for non HD requiring users

ASUS has indicated its new EeeBox EB1007 PineTrail powered nettop isn't powered by NVIDIA's Ion, contrary to earlier reports at CeBIT. This means you can forget about running high definition content on this one with its little Intel Atom D410 processor being the only power on tap.

But apart from that, it's a tidy little unit which could well be an ideal option for users wanting a nettop without unnecessary HD video playback capabilities and what we expect will be a nice low price tag ($350 or less).

Running quickly over the rest of the specs, it's much a standard affair with 1GB of DDR2, 160GB storage, three USB 2.0 ports and 802.11b/g/n WiFi support.

ASUS is yet to disclose the price or a time of availability. We'll keep you posted.
