If you like the idea of a tablet computer, but couldn't bring yourself to jump on the iPad, the HP Slate may be more your style. We knew the machine would run Windows 7 and had features the iPad lacked, but specs and pricing were unknown.
Engadget reports that the Slate has been confirmed for June launch at 400. Straight conversion makes that right under $550 here in the states. We will have to wait for official pricing; many expect the Slate to come in at the same starting price as the iPad.
The device will have an Atom CPU, Windows 7, USB connectivity, a memory card reader, and a webcam all built-in. That will make it appealing to many, but it looks larger than the iPad to my eyes.
